PURPOSE & CONCEPT…
This one-day workshop is an innovative,
research based program detailing the broad scope of case
management. Case management programs in today’s
healthcare environment must be structured around patient
centered activities. For case managers to succeed in the
current healthcare environment the knowledge of outcomes
management is essential for survival. Many challenges
are facing case managers today, and the need to find
answers to these challenges are essential.
This workshop is taught from the perspective of a case
manager: A legal perspective implicating what to
document, what to look for, and how to make your case
management program work seamlessly for you.

WORKSHOP FACULTY…
Spend an exciting and insightful day with Olga Cotera, JD,
RN, BSN, MHM. Health
educator, consultant and author (published in the Journal of
Legal Medicine), Ms. Cotera currently practices in the field
of Medical Malpractice.
Ms. Cotera pioneered many early case management concepts and
is currently a leading national authority in development and
implementation of case management/critical pathway models.
Over 4,000 hospitals nationwide have participated in her
programs in nearly 100 cities over the past two decades. Ms.
Cotera brings to her workshops a rich, multidisciplinary
background, encompassing both a hands-on perspective as well
as an evidence based experience. She has been a Director and
Educator in various healthcare settings including critical
care units, maternal child health, quality management,
managed care settings, and home health agencies. Currently
involved in Medical Malpractice Litigation, she received a
Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Barry University in
Miami, Florida, Master of Science in Nursing Health
Administration from St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida,
and Executive Juris Doctor degree with a specialization in
Health Law from Concord University Law School.

top of the page or print out the PDF and simply complete the enrollment form and enclose the
appropriate tuition fee (or credit card info). For those
participants requiring hospital authorization, pre-enroll by
phone once approval is received (checks can arrive
after enrollment). Payment must be received prior to
workshop date. Confirmation will be provided upon
enrollment. No tape recorders please.
Seminar Workbook included in price.
Personalized Certificates of Completion (CE validation) will
be provided at the end of the workshop. Registrations made
inside of 10 days of event will receive Certificates in the
mail.

Case Managers:
The commission for Case Manager Certification has approved
this program for 6 hours under approval #62101034576.
Nurses:
Academy Medical Systems is an approved provider of continuing
nursing education by the Michigan Nurses Association, an
accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing
Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
7.2 contact hours will
be rewarded to nursing professionals at the completion of this
workshop. Academy medical Systems is also a provider approved
by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider
#CEP14413, for 7.2 hours. And we are also a provider approved
by the Florida Board of Nursing, provider #50-19, for 7.2
hours.
Social Workers:
Academy Medical has applied for Approved Provider Status for
Category I Credit with the California Board of Behavioral
Sciences. Upon approval, Social Workers in AL, CT, FL, GA,
LA, MA, MD, NC, NJ, NY, SC, TN and VA will receive 6 contact
hours.
