PURPOSE & CONCEPT…

Are you seeking to validate that you have an optimal competency based job description, orientation, and performance evaluation process? Are you seeking to develop or upgrade your process to meet JCAHO's latest standards? Are you seeking to enhance team dynamics and communications (a major focus in the survey)? If so, join us in this fun workshop where we will think "outside the box" and develop options which reduce paperwork and identify key components of an annual competency profile for employees. Many sample forms will be included in the workbook but participants are encouraged to bring job description, orientation & competency forms for group discussion or for specific assessment by the group facilitator.

WORKSHOP FACULTY…

Spend an exciting day with Norma M. Sparso, RN, BSN, MBA, Ph.D., a national health professions educator, consultant and lecturer. Dr. Sparso brings to this workshop a rich, multi-professional background including a former position as Field Representative with JCAHO. Within the hospital setting, her positions have included Vice President of Patient Care, Assistant Director of Nursing, and Assistant Administrator. Dr. Sparso is currently on the faculty at the Hartford Graduate Center where she teaches Quality Improvement in Healthcare.

Academically, she received her Doctorate Degree in Health and Human Services from Columbia Pacific University, her MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and her BSN from Southern Connecticut State College. Dr. Sparso is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Organization of Nurse Executives, and formerly served on the President’s Council of the National Association of Quality Assurance Professionals.
