WORKSHOP FACULTY…
Enjoy an exciting and educational day with Marli J. Carlson,
BA-BPA, RD, CDE, a registered dietitian and certified
diabetes educator with a Bachelor of Science degree with a
coordinated program in dietetics and a Bachelor of Business
and Public Administration degree from the University of
North Dakota. Marli has 11 years of experience in the field
of diabetes education. She has worked in hospital settings,
outpatient counseling, nursing homes and insulin pump
programs. She is also an insulin pump trainer and has been
wearing a pump for several years. Marli has been a guest
lecturer in various academic settings and provides
continuing education programs for nurses and dietitians for
the Upper Peninsula Diabetes Outreach Network of Michigan.
Marli became a certified diabetes educator in 2000. She is
the past president for the Upper Peninsula District Dietetic
Association in Michigan. She is actively involved with the
Michigan Organization of Diabetes Educators.

participants requiring hospital authorization, pre-enroll by
phone once approval is received (checks can arrive
after enrollment). Payment must be received prior to
workshop date. Confirmation will be provided upon
enrollment. No tape recorders please.
Seminar Workbook included in price.
Personalized Certificates of Completion (CE validation) will
be provided at the end of the workshop. Registrations made
inside of 10 days of event will receive Certificates in the
mail.

Nurses:
Nursing professionals will receive 7.2 contact hours for this
course.

the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission (ANCC)
on Accreditation. ANCC is accepted by most
State Nursing Boards in the U.S. Academy Medical Systems is

Board of Nursing BRN #2450.
Dietitians and Registered Dietetic Technicians:

(RDs) and dietetic technicians, registered (DTRs) will
receive 6 continuing professional education units (CPEUs)
for completion of this program.
Certified Diabetes Educators:
Academy Medical Systems' approved Provider Status with the
ANCC (nurses) and the CDR (dietitians) is recognized by the
National Certification Board of Diabetes Educators (NCBDE).
Nurses will receive 7.2 contact hours and Dietitans will
receive 6.0 continuing professional education units for this
course.
Certified Athletic Trainers:
will receive 6 CEU’s for this workshop. Academy Medical
Systems is recognized by the Board of Certification (BOC) to
offer continuing education for certified athletic trainers –
Provider # P925.
