PURPOSE & CONCEPT…
Today’s healthcare environment finds
practitioners continually facing reduced revenues and
increased demands on quality of care improvement. New
practice recommendations such as patient safety mandates
from JCAHO necessitate the transfer of funds for
protection issues. Many other factors put a strain on
available funds making cost reductions more challenging
every day. This workshop will give a basic understanding
of the product procurement process; discuss easy cost
saving measures which many OR’s overlook. This program
will assist the learner in creating a cost containment
program which will be efficient and produce immediate and
ongoing results

WORKSHOP FACULTY…
Kathy Greer, RN, CNOR, LNC is a Clinical Specialist for a manufacturer of
Infection Control and Operating Room products and is a
consultant for numerous surgical centers on all issues,
including start up, accreditation and daily operations. She is
a Legal Nurse Consultant experienced as an expert witness and
chart review. She has also conducted clinical training for
laboratory surgeons and clinical training of the surgical
staff for spinal cage insertion, Orthopedic and cardiovascular
implants. She has been a public speaker to professional and
interested groups on nursing and material management issues.
Ms. Greer has authored numerous articles for local, state and
national newsletters. One of her publications is entitled
“Easy Ways to Save Money in Your OR” in the SSM (Surgical
Services Management), AORN Journal. Ms. Greer is currently
Chair of Nurses in Business, Industry and Consulting,
Specialty Assembly of the Association of PeriOperative
Registered Nurses. She is a member of the Board of Directors
on the Florida Council of Perioperative Registered Nurses.
